Why is Chris Bosh Waiting For LeBron James’ Decision?

Free agent big man Chris Bosh has won two NBA titles and earned nine consecutive All-Star game appearances. He’s among the best all-around forwards in the entire NBA. So why is he still pondering a max-contract offer from the Houston Rockets?

That’s simple. Bosh wants to make sure that LeBron James doesn’t return to the Miami Heat before signing on the dotted line with Houston. If all things were equal at this point, the former No. 4 overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft would choose to follow James back to South Beach.

That may very well be a decent plan, but Bosh is now running out of time.

At some point in the not-so-distant future, the Rockets are going to have to rescind their offer to Bosh in order to get on with their offseason plans, such as retaining/trading Chandler Parsons and acquiring other upgrades on the open market.

For his part, Bosh has already given up a whole heck of a lot when it comes to his own personal star power and even cash in order to team up with Dwyane Wade and James four years ago. The big man took less than a max deal as well as a backseat to both James and Wade when he signed on with the Heat.

Isn’t it time for Bosh to cash in and do what’s best for himself?

After all, there is no telling that Miami will even offer Bosh a contract should both James and Wade return. In fact, it could use that extra money to gauge the market for other mid-tier free agents or another top of the line impact player. Can anyone say Kevin Love?

In reality, Bosh may be nearing the point where he has to turn the page and move in with what has been a stellar NBA career thus far.
