Bills’ QB E.J. Manuel Plans to Play Smarter in 2014

Buffalo Bills’ second-year quarterback E.J. Manuel didn’t exactly exude greatness in his rookie campaign in 2013. Barring injury, Manuel will be starting in 2014. And he plans to play smarter football.

Manuel had this to say regarding his plans for 2014 to NFL Media insiders Lindsay Rhodes and Brian Baldinger (via NFL.com)

Obviously I didn’t want to go down with an injury, because I’m a competitive player. I go hard each and every time I step out on the field, but it just so happen I had to come down with an injury. But I moved past it, thankfully I’m 100 percent healthy now and I feel like I’m stronger than I was last year so I’m looking forward to moving on.

During the course of his rookie year, Manuel was sidelined three times with knee injuries, posing the question that he might not have the durability to stay healthy for a long-term career.

What do you think? Can Manuel stay upright for all 16 of the regular season games in 2014? I’m not sure that is a gamble I would bank on.

If you’re into fantasy football, this will probably true.
