One of the most important aspects of being successful for a new NBA head coach without any previous coaching experience is to be able to bring in veteran assistants who have been there before. Apparently, this is what new Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is looking to do.
Add GS & HOU with SAC as teams that have expressed interest in ex-Jazz head coach Tyrone Corbin for assistant coach openings, a source said.

Coming directly from the broadcast booth to what promises to be a high-stress atmosphere with a Warriors team that will have high expectations in 2014 will prove to be difficult for Kerr. If he is able to net someone like Tyrone Corbin, who has three-plus years of head coaching experience, it would be huge for Kerry. The former Utah Jazz coach was let go following the regular season. He went 112-146 as their head coach.
At the very least, this is a sign that Kerr fully understands he needs to add experience to the bench. If Corbin isn’t the answer, we can expect the new head coach to bring some more experience with him heading into the 2014-2015 season.
