Rumor: Potential James Harden for Carmelo Anthony Deal?

Let the rumors and reports start to take over the world of basketball. With NBA free agency set to start early next month and the draft about to get going, there promises to be a lot of talk about where some of the top available players might end up landing when everything is said and done.

One such rumor/report suggests that the New York Knicks could send Carmelo Anthony to the Houston Rockets in a sign-and-trade deal for James Harden. According to ESPN’s Chris Broussard there is a possibility that this could happen (H/T RealGm.com).

This makes sense in that Houston would likely end up parting ways with Harden if it were to acquire Anthony. There isn’t enough basketballs in the solar system for these two players to coexist on the same court with the same team.

Broussard’s suggestion is that the Rockets would then send Jeremy Lin and Omar Asik somewhere in order to free up enough cap room to sign LeBron James.

For what it is worth, Houston is one of James’ potential landing spots at this time.

This would create a Big Three consisting of James, Anthony and Dwight Howard. Is that a more attractive option for James and Anthony compared to potential opportunities in the weaker Eastern Conference? That’s the major question.
