Report: Radio City Out as NFL Draft Host

The historical Radio City Music Hall is out as the host of the NFL draft after serving as its venue since 2006. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the league sent out letters to three potential host cities asking for more detailed explanations of their plans.

All three have potential venues that could cater to what has been a growing event throughout the past few years.

According to Pro Football Talk, the NFL is also planning a potential change as it relates to the days the draft is held and the length of the annual event.

Although the final date of the draft has not been set, the league has asked its potential hosts about availability for either April 22-25 or April 29-May 2. April 22 and April 29 are Wednesdays, indicating that the NFL is considering starting the draft earlier in the week and turning it into a four-day event.

The Dolby Theatre (previously the Kodak Theatre) in Los Angeles would be a likely destination considering events it has hosted in the past. It has previously hosted the American Idol finals and ESPY Awards.
