Report: Minnesota Vikings’ WR Jerome Simpson Could be Suspended

The Minnesota Vikings are going to be relying on what has become a talented wide receiver group to help whoever is under center in 2014, especially if that guy is rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Unfortunately, they may very well be without the services of veteran Jerome Simpson for the first four games of the season.

According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Simpson could face a four-game suspension stemming from a DUI arrest last November.

Vikings wideout Jerome Simpson says he doesn’t know whether he’ll be suspended by the NFL for his latest setback, an arrest in November in Minneapolis for suspected DWI. But it won’t be surprising if he gets four games, beginning with the opener Sept. 7 at St. Louis.

Simpson is slated to line up on the outside opposite Cordarrelle Patterson with both Greg Jennings and Jarius Wright sharing snaps as the Vikings’ slot receiver. With Simpson potentially out for the first four games, Jennings will likely line up wide with Wright getting a majority of the time in the slot.

Simpson recorded 48 receptions for 726 yards and a score for the Vikings last season.
