Report: Houston Texans Unsure if Andre Johnson Will Return

The spat between star wide receiver Andre Johnson and the Houston Texans may be on the verge of getting uglier than it already is. While Johnson isn’t necessarily holding out for a new contract, it’s rather obvious that he’s not happy about the direction of the franchise.

According to Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle, new Texans head coach Bill O’Brien is not sure whether or when Johnson will show up.

It is anticipated that the future Hall of Famer will not take part in mandatory minicamp this week, as he has missed all 10 of Houston’s OTA’s thus far this offseason. There is also no indication that Houston plans on trading the star pass catcher.

If Johnson is put on the trade block, there promises to be a ton of teams interested in his services. The issue there is that Johnson’s suitors will likely be limited to contending teams, most of which don’t have the cap space to take on the $15.6 million cap hit that Johnson will cost in 2014. In reality, the veteran will have to agree to a restructure upon being traded to another team.
