Injury Could Impact Chase Headley Trade Negotiations

San Diego Padres third baseman Chase Headley, who has long figured to be on the trade block, is suffering through a herniated disc that he might have to play through for the remainder of the season. This comes on the heals of the Padres firing general manager Josh Byrnes over the weekend.

That six-to-eight week timeline pretty much indicates that potential suitors for Headley’s services could be scared off by the possibility that he might have to go under the knife at some point in the second half of the season.

Headley is hitting .202 with six homers and 23 RBI’s in 2014. He’s set to earn over $5 million for the remainder of the season and hasn’t been the same player since driving in 115 runs and placing fifth in the NL MVP voting back in 2012.
