The game of baseball has a rich history of players having spectacular individual performances. However, it’s pretty safe to say that a certain player for the Cleveland Indians had a game he won’t ever forget on Monday.
The Indians were playing the Texas Rangers on the road, and third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall decided to take matters into his own hands.
Chisenhall went five-for-five in the game, but the fact that the opposing pitchers for Texas had no answer when he stepped up to the plate, only tells half the story. He ended up with nine RBIs and crushed three home runs.

This was obviously a great night in the career for Chisenhall, but it could also be one of the best single-game performances in baseball’s illustrious history. The monster game by the third baseman puts him in a group of select players, as he became only the fourth player in all of baseball in the past 100 years to have at least three home runs, five hits and nine RBIs in one game. The other players on this list include Boston’s Fred Lynn (June 18, 1975), Brooklyn’s Gil Hodges (Aug. 31, 1950) and Cincinnati’s Walker Cooper (July 6, 1949).

Another remarkable aspect about this accomplishment is that he is the only one among the group to not record an out. The nine RBIs also matched a franchise record, which was first set on May 4, 1991 by Chris James.
This was the 32nd time in club history that a player had at least three home runs in a game, just falling one home run shy of Rocky Colavito’s four-homer game in 1959.
In other words, Chisenhall had one of the more memorable games in Cleveland’s 114-year history.
