It’s a sad fact that some of the worst teams in the NBA are actually looking forward to the draft lottery, which takes place tonight at 8 PM ET, in order to set the draft order for those teams who missed the playoffs.

In basketball as in life, if you’re relying on a lottery to “own the future,” you are likely doing life wrong. Let’s all walk to the local liquor store and buy a $2 lottery ticket, hoping that we walk out on top by a few dollars. That’s exactly what it seems like many of these bottom-feeding NBA teams are doing right now.
Look at the Milwaukee Bucks as a case study. They lost 67 games this past regular season and have made picks in the lottery six times over the course of the last eight drafts. Those picks have included Yi Jianlian, Joe Alexander, Brandon Jennings and John Henson. Thanks for giving fans a false hope that you might actually get it right this time.
Then you have this…

Unfortunately, we all know that the teams with the best chance to win the lottery, or at least get a top-two pick to guarantee themselves either Jabari Parker or Andrew Wiggins, will likely be face-palming when all is said and done tonight.
After all, the rigged NBA lottery will probably hand the Los Angeles Lakers the first overall pick. While that might have been tongue-and-cheek, does anyone really expect the Philadelphia 76ers or Milwaukee Bucks to get the top selection when all is said and done?
Enjoy your night in the spotlight, NBA bottom-feeders, it will only come around once a year. Here’s to you returning to the big stage next May.
