Michael Sam’s Reality Show Put on Hold

This is a very good decision by the newest member of the St. Louis Rams, Michael Sam. The rookie seventh-round pick, who made history by becoming the first openly gay football player to be drafted into the NFL, had planned on documenting his journey on Oprah’s OWN Network.

According to TMZ the reality show has now been put on hold.

Sam apparently caught the Rams off guard when the news broke, which might have led to him putting the show on hold. Personal opinion here, but I don’t think it’s necessary for someone to profit off their sexuality, at least within the confines of the National Football League.

Let’s face facts. If Sam were heterosexual, he wouldn’t even have been considered for a reality show. This is a very good decision on his part.
