Chicago Bears’ WR Brandon Marshall Donates $1 Million to Mental Health Awareness

Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who has been personally impacted by mental health issues in the past, has donated $1 million to mental health awareness. The veteran receiver signed a three-year, $30 million extension with the Bears on Monday and is apparently ready to give back to something that’s close to him.

Speaking on ESPN”s “First Take,” Marshall indicated that so many celebrities out there are willing to start foundations, but don’t put their own money behind it. He obviously wasn’t having any of that.

Marshall, who had his fair share of issues with the Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins in the past, was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder back in 2011. He has since made it one of his focuses in life to make sure that the general public is aware of this mental health issue that seems to fly under the radar of mainstream society.

Congratulations to Marshall for getting his life together and for continuing to fight for others who don’t have the same platform or ability to help create change. It’s always great to see someone go above and beyond for a cause. That’s exactly what Marshall has done over the past few years. For that, he deserves our utmost respect.
