Baltimore Ravens Scout Attacked by Bird While Driving to See Johnny Manziel

What are the chances of getting seriously attacked by a bird? Appropriately enough, the odds were in favor of Baltimore Ravens scout Joe Hortiz who was driving to College Station in order to watch Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M work out.

Joe Hortiz, the Ravens director of college scouting, states what exactly happened in his bird incident, as reported via Fox Sports

I remember seeing the full bird right in front of me, and I ducked, felt this thing hit my arm and focused on keeping the wheels straight. Glass was everywhere. It was like an explosion. When I opened my eyes, I expected to find a giant turkey buzzard in my lap. Turns out what had hit my arm was the light console from right behind the window. The bird didn’t come all the way through the windshield, but the force of the hit burst the inside of the window,” Hortiz told BaltimoreRavens.com.

Manziel was probably not the only one running this day. This odd accident sounds like a game of Angry Birds gone terribly wrong.

Despite the crazy bird attack, which could have been some other NFL team’s ploy to detour the Ravens’ scouting plan, Hortiz was still able to complete his mission of watching Manziel practice.

In all seriousness, other than a damaged car, I’m glad Hortiz was ok after the bird incident.
