There Are Pics Of The New “Pitchers Safety” Hats, And They’re Hideous

After the scares of pitchers Aroldis Chapman, Brandon McCarthy, and others Major League Baseball tried to take a stand against the safety of the guys on the bump. Here come “the hats.”

Yeah, these are the new “hats that will protect pitchers.”

These caps were approved earlier in the year, and according to ESPN.com, they made sure they were going to create a product that was going to be about the maximum protection for players.

“We’re excited to have a product that meets our safety criteria,” says Dan Halem, MLB executive vice president for labor relations. He also added “MLB is committed to working with manufacturers to develop products that offer maximum protection to our players, and we’re not stopping at all.”

This Kevlar material is supposed to be bulletproof and defined, by myself in a past article, as

A patented fiber used in law enforcement and the military that, when woven into a sheet, is five-times stronger than steel. Delivers virtually unmatched strength and flexibility.

I’m a firm believer nobody and nothing is bulletproof, but we will see how these hats will do. Putting the goofy look aside, I don’t see these working.
