Jim Kelly Proves Why Family Matters Most

Jim Kelly, a NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback, is showing everyone that cancer isn’t slowing him down. He’s also showing he’s a terrific father. Even with his ongoing battle, he finds ways to put family first. Regardless of the circumstances.

Kelly’s daughter made the Dean’s list at her school and he wanted to surprise her for that accomplishment, so he attended the New York Knicks game with her last night. Hats off to Kelly for being a good dad who clearly encourages good values.

Put yourself in his daughter’s shoes. Imagine trying to focus on school while your dad goes through a rigorous battle with his health.

The Kelly’s are not strangers to heartbreaking family health situations. Per USA Today, the Kelly family lost their eight year old son in 2005 to Krabbe disease. Kelly’s speech during his 2002 Pro Football Hall of Fame induction shows the devotion he has for his family.

It’s been written that the trademark of my career was toughness…The toughest person I ever met in my life was my hero, my soldier, my son, Hunter. I love you, buddy.

It’s clear that family is important to the Kelly’s, and it’s unimaginable to think what they’re going through. Kelly’s situation should have a lot of people being thankful for what they have, and to not take things for granted.

We wish the Hall of Famer a speedy recovery, because we need more people like Jim Kelly.
