Former NFL Player Charged With Attempted Murder?!?!?!?

Former NFL player Brandon Winey allegedly attempted to kill league hopeful and 2014 draft prospect Tahj Jones in an altercation in Louisiana on Friday night. The Time Picayune is reporting that Winey pulled a gun on Jones and shot him in the stomach.

Jones was rushed to  West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital Saturday morning before being transferred to Rapides Regional Medical Center. He’s currently in serious condition.

Winey was a sixth-round pick of the Miami Dolphins in the 2001 NFL draft. He was released by the team in training camp and didn’t catch on with another NFL team for regular season action until the Washington Redskins picked him up two years later. Winey started three games for Washington that season before moving on to the New York Giants and appearing in 11 games the following year. That’s the extent of his NFL experience.

Jones is a NFL hopeful, but isn’t expected to be drafted next month. He played four seasons with LSU and recorded 47 tackles in limited playing time.
