Ryan Clark: Jealous Or A Realist?

When news broke that Darrelle Revis had agreed to a one-year, $12 million contract with the New England Patriots, writers and fans around the football world quickly assumed he took a pay cut. This based solely on his $16 million price tag last season, not what others were offering once he was released by Tampa Bay…

just hours before.

Now free agent safety Ryan Clark tweets out something that many of us skeptics believed since the news broke.

While some will conclude that he’s envious or jealous, Clark brings up a great point here. New England’s annual offer was likely the best he received (conjecture on our part) on the open market. Also, since when was $12 million for one season of football a pay cut?

In any event, good for Mr. Revis. He goes from a cellar dwellar to a legit Super Bowl contender and has $12 million bucks to spend on top of it.
