Broncos Downgrade At Wide Receiver, Everyone Praises Them

This is getting ridiculous. The biggest news that broke around the National Football League on Saturday evening was that Emmanuel Sanders was close to agreeing to a free-agent deal with the Denver Broncos. Then everyone went insane, most focusing on how deadly the Broncos offense is going to be in 2014.

Is Sanders an upgrade over Eric Decker? If so, is he that much of an upgrade to overcome the embarrassment that the Broncos offense was against the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl last month?

Never has a player who recorded less than 800 receiving yards in a season gained so much PR after “signing a contract” (more on that in another article), than Sanders agreeing to terms with the Broncos.

In any event, count me in as those skeptics who conclude winning free agency in March means little when it comes down to business in January.
