Addison Russell Is Ready For The Majors

The Oakland A’s have made a lot of positive moves in the off-season from upping their pitching staff thanks to additions like Scott Kazmir and Jim Johnson; to strong bats and gloves with Craig Gentry and Nick Punto. The one name that has been being thrown around a lot is Addison Russel.

The 20 year-old shortstop is a phenom in not only the A’s organization, but in the prospects world as a whole. I even have a source who faced him who told me “Addison Russell is the real deal.”

Even with a recent hamstring injury, he only misses one week of play, so don’t let that  mean the brakes are being pumped on him.

Is he Major League ready? The question is being thrown around like a strike-out just occurred.  He will begin the season with Double-A Midland.

In High-A Class, Stockton, Russell in 107 games accumulated 118 hits, 17 home runs, and a .275 batting average. Even if he stays in the minors this season, the fact that Oakland has him as a weapon to “fall back on” is something to be proud of. Either way, make sure you look out for him this season.
