Former Eastern Kentucky point guard Wendell Green Jr. announced his transfer to Auburn on social media Friday.

The 5-foot-11 freshman from Detroit averaged 15.8 points, 5.0 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 29 games (25 starts) for the Colonels in 2020-21.

He shot 36.4 percent (48 of 132) from 3-point range and made the All-Ohio Valley Conference first team.

Green, who entered the NCAA transfer portal last month, will attempt to help coach Bruce Pearl’s Tigers overcome the departure of star freshman Sharife Cooper. Cooper declared for the 2021 NBA Draft last week after averaging 20.2 points and 8.1 assists in 12 games.

Auburn finished 13-14 this season, including 7-11 in the SEC.
