Because, of course they did.

With soon-to-be free agent Dwyane Wade reportedly nearing an agreement on a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, it looks like the future Hall of Famer will be reuniting with LeBron James.

This apparently didn’t stop the defending champion Golden State Warriors from putting in a call to Wade’s camp as a way to gauge his interest in joining the team.

“Interestingly, the Warriors placed a call of their own to Wade’s camp to express interest in his services. The talks were brief because it was unclear what role Wade would play with Golden State,” Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype reported on Tuesday.

Remember, this is the very same Warriors team that apparently received calls from the Cleveland Cavaliers about Kyrie Irving. Obviously, nothing came to fruition on that end. Heck, the Warriors were also reportedly in on Paul George prior to him being traded to Oklahoma City.

None of this should really be a surprise. Golden State is always looking to improve a roster that has won 67-plus games in each of the past three seasons, earning two NBA titles during that span. It’s why the team added sharpshooter Nick Young to the mix during the summer.

Even then, the idea of Wade turning down a reunion with his best friend in Cleveland to join James’ biggest rival would have been a blockbuster move of epic proportions. It also wouldn’t have made much sense.
