Report: Vikings believe Sam Bradford knee injury ‘one-week’ thing

Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford on Monday Night Football

After being humiliated by the Pittsburgh Steelers while Sam Bradford sat out with a knee injury, the Minnesota Vikings are hopeful he’ll be back in Week 3.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, who appeared on Good Morning Football Monday morning, the team believes it is a “one-week injury.” If Bradford responds well to treatment this week, he’ll play Sunday when the Vikings host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“The only thing is, they really don’t know how his knee is going to respond to treatment; how his knee is going to handle getting worked on all week and when he’ll be able to fully bend it like he needs to,” Rapoport said, per Conor Orr of NFL.com. “They think it’s going to be one week. They think he’ll be under center next week. But until you go on a few days and see how the treatment takes hold, there’s really no way to know for sure.”

Case Keenum was a significant downgrade for Minnesota Sunday against Pittsburgh. He completed just 20-of-37 passes for 167 yards. Worse still, Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen caught a combined seven passes for 71 yards after hauling in 16 receptions and 250 yards in Week 1’s win over New Orleans. In that game, Bradford made NFL history by completing 84.4 percent of his passes for 346 yards and three touchdowns in the Week 1 game.

Needless to say, Bradford needs to play in order for the Vikings to have a decent chance of beating a quality team like Tampa Bay, which dismantled the Chicago Bears Sunday, 29-7.
