Report: Vic Beasley likely out ‘at least a month’ with slight hamstring tear

Vic Beasley

The Atlanta Falcons will reportedly be without top pass rusher Vic Beasley for an extended period of time after he suffered a slight hamstring tear.

This is a troubling injury that will require the utmost caution. Hamstring injuries are notoriously tricky buggers to overcome, and a tear is significantly more concerning than a pull.

Beasley is the team’s most dynamic defensive weapon. He led the NFL last year with 15.5 sacks, racked up six forced fumbles along the way and scored a touchdown on an interception. Beasley also has managed to tally one sack in each of the team’s first two games in 2017.

Needless to say, losing that kind of player is going to put stress on the rest of Atlanta’s defense. Rookie Takk McKinley will need to step up in a big way in the meantime. The Falcons next face the potent offense of the Detroit Lions, in Detroit. They’ll come back home for a Week 4 date with the Buffalo Bills before their bye in Week 5.
