Report: Ravens RB Danny Woodhead out at least a month

Danny Woodhead will miss at least the next month.

New Baltimore Ravens running back Danny Woodhead dealt with a hamstring injury throughout all of training camp and the preseason.

It was an unfortunate start to his Ravens career after the veteran running back missed all but one game with the then San Diego Chargers last season due to a torn ACL.

Active for Week 1’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Woodhead pulled up lame with another hamstring injury. This came after he put up three catches in the Ravens’ initial possession of the game.

It now looks like the 32-year-old running back will miss at least the next month of action.

This is yet another major blow to a Ravens offense that already lost fellow running back Kenneth Dixon for the season due to an injury during the summer. Baltimore also saw both both Steve Smith and Dennis Pitta call it quits during the offseason.

The injury-plagued Woodhead was brought on to be a key receiving option out of the backfield. In his last two full NFL seasons, the veteran has averaged 78 catches.

With Woodhead sidelined, Javorius Allen promises to take on a larger role in Baltimore’s offense. He actually put up more touches (21) than starter Terrance West (19) in the Ravens’ season-opening shutout win over Cincinnati.
