Report: Giants confident Odell Beckham Jr. will play Monday

Odell Beckham Jr. Giants

Considering just how horrible their offense looked in Week 1’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Giants are in desperate need of a jump-start if they want to avoid going 0-2 on the season.

That could very well come in the form of star receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who sat out the team’s season opener with a sprained ankle. According to this one report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Giants believe there is a “good chance” OBJ will be able to go against the Detroit Lions on Monday night.

Despite indicating that it was a long-term injury, Beckham Jr. was seen practicing on a limited basis this past week. With an extra day off between games, it’s now looking more and more like the star receiver will be able to go.

New York mustered all of three points and 233 total yards of offense in a 16-point blowout loss to Dallas in Week 1. The team put up 50 total yards and two first downs in the first half and didn’t cross its own 35-yard line until midway through the third quarter.

Needless to say, getting OBJ back in the mix here would be a big deal for the team’s struggling offense.
