Report: Browns fear Myles Garrett could miss multiple games to ankle injury

Myles Garrett Cleveland Browns practice

Cleveland Browns rookie No. 1 overall pick Myles Garrett exited Wednesday’s practice with what is being described as an ankle injury. While the issue isn’t on the same foot that dogged him during the offseason, Cleveland is now fearful that Garrett could miss multiple games.

“Garrett will undergo a series of exams on the ankle, and a source close to the team said the Browns are worried the injury could sideline him for weeks,” Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported Wednesday afternoon.

As the Browns’ insider notes, Cleveland could decide to play it extra cautious with Garrett. Remember, the former Texas A&M standout suffered a high-ankle sprain during his final season with the Aggies. The Browns are unlikely to contend for even a .500 record this season, so it makes sense the team would want to take it slow with Garrett. That’s only magnified by the fact that he was slowed down during the spring with a foot injury.

Garrett has made no bones about wanting to put Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on the turf in Week 1. Unfortunately, it now looks like he might have to wait a while.
