Report: Bengals working on extension for Vontaze Burfict

Vontaze Burfict

He might be an enigmatic personality off the field and a perceived dirty player on the field, but Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict is absolutely dominating when he has his head on straight.

It’s led to the team continuing its support for the former Arizona State standout, even as he sits out the first three games of the season due to a suspension (more on that here).

Now comes this report from ESPN’s Josina Anderson indicating that the Bengals are working on an extension for the former Pro Bowl linebacker.

Burfict, 26, is currently playing under the final year of a four-year, $19 million extension he signed with Cincinnati back in 2014.

The former undrafted free agent recorded 101 tackles, eight passes defended, two interceptions and two sacks in a Pro Bowl-caliber performance last season.
