Myles Garrett doesn’t regret Ben Roethlisberger trash talk

Myles Garrett Cleveland Browns practice

Shortly after he was drafted first overall, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett let it be known that he was coming for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

The comment drew the attention of both Big Ben and his teammates. With their Week 1 showdown now only days away, does Garrett regret the comments? Not so much.

“I stand by it,” Garrett said, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “You shouldn’t be scared to take anybody down. It’s the whole defense against their offense. I’m not going to be alone in this.”

Garrett had a solid preseason for the Browns, even recording a sack.

He’ll be thrown right into the fire in his official NFL debut on Sunday. While the Browns and Steelers are old rivals, the rivalry has been dramatically tilted in Pittsburgh’s direction for a long time. The Steelers have won four straight against Cleveland and are 31-6 against the Browns since Cleveland re-entered the NFL in 1999.

Garrett will be one of many rookies tasked with trying to turn that around. Finding a way to drop Big Ben a few times on Sunday would be a good step in the right direction.
