Miss America referenced Carson Wentz during acceptance speech

Carson Wentz

Move over Tom Brady, there is another popular NFL quarterback stealing the limelight. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz emerged as the most talked about sports star on Monday.

It probably helps Wentz’s case plenty that new Miss America, Cara Mund, mentioned him in her acceptance speech Sunday night.

“I said, ‘If Carson Wentz can do it, Miss North Dakota Cara Mund can become Miss America, she said, per Wayne Perry of the Associated Press (h/t ABC News).'”

Wentz and Mund went to the same high school in North Dakota, per the report.

Wentz had a successful Sunday as well. He and the Eagles beat the Washington Redskins on the road, 30-17. The second-year quarterback completed 66.7 percent of his passes for 307 yards, two touchdowns (including this remarkable gem) and one interception.

For now, Wentz is the most popular guy in the league. He and the Eagles will travel to face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2.
