Josh Norman to Raiders WRs: ‘Do not run your mouth’

Josh Norman

Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman knows all about trash talking on the field. He’s also an expert in shutting down opposing team’s top receivers.

So when Oakland Raiders receiver Michael Crabtree apparently told Norman he’d put up 200 yards in Sunday’s game against the Redskins, Norman took note.

In the end, Washington absolutely dominated Oakland to the tune of 27-10. It’s a game in which the final score doesn’t even come close to showing us how lopsided the affair was. The Redskins put up 472 yards of total offense while the Raiders were held to 128.

For his part, Crabtree caught 1-of-3 targets for seven yards in an absolutely abysmal performance.

Taking time after the game to point this out, Norman didn’t hold back from lobbing shade Crabtree’s way.

“What was personal, other than them getting their tails whupped?” Norman said, via ESPN. “I mean, first and foremost, you don’t come up in here and say what you’re going to put up on somebody. Two hundred yards? [Crabtree] didn’t catch two balls. He only caught one, huh?”

Fellow Raiders receiver Amari Cooper caught just 1-of-5 targets for six yards as the team was held to five first downs prior to a garbage-time drive to close out the final stanza. Needless to say, Norman’s talk was backed up by his performance on the field.

“So please, whatever you do, do not run your mouth if you’re a wide receiver and expect to show up on Sundays, because I’m telling you, we are here and we are waiting,” the always talkative Norman continued. “”Don’t come out here and tell me what you’re going to do. Show me. You’re going to have to run through me to get that.”

We’ve seen Norman on both ends. He’s talked a good game prior to taking to the field, only to see the opposing receiver blow him up. But more often than not, the former Pro Bowler backs up his talk with a dominating on-field performance. Sunday night against Oakland was no different.
