Jerry Jones not worried about Dak Prescott’s ankle injury

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in NFL Week 2

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys put up a stinker of a performance in a 42-17 loss to the Broncos in Denver this past weekend. It included the young quarterback tossing two interceptions after throwing just four picks in his first 17 career starts.

Sure some of that had to do with a Broncos defensive line that put pressure in Prescott’s face throughout the game. But the quarterback was also dealing with an ankle injury he suffered Sunday.

The good news here is that it doesn’t look like the Cowboys, specifically owner Jerry Jones, are too concerned about the injury. In fact, Jones went out of his way to indicate that Prescott will be good to go Monday night against the Arizona Cardinals.

That’s definitely a positive sign so early in the practice week. Then again, if the Cowboys want Prescott to remain healthy this season, two things must happen.

First off, the offensive line must do a better job protecting him in the passing game. He was pressured in over 20 of his drop backs against the Broncos in Week 2.

That’s jut not sustainable. It’s also not sustainable for the Cowboys to lack balance on offense. Prescott attempted 50 passes on Sunday with running back Ezekiel Elliott seeing the ball a total of nine times on the ground.
