Derrius Guice, previously ruled out, will play in Week 4 for LSU

LSU running back Derrius Guice was essentially ruled out of action in Week 4 after sustaining a left injury in Week 3 against Mississippi State. Now he’s back in play.

According to head coach Ed Orgeron, Guice came to him and said he’d like to give it a go.

“We got some good news today, at the beginning of the week, Derrius was ruled out, up to yesterday he wouldn’t be able to play,” Orgeron said according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “He came to us today and said ‘Coach, I’m feeling better, I want to practice.’ He practiced pretty good today so he’s going to get some snaps. He will play.”

The Tigers likely don’t need Guice in the lineup to defeat Syracuse. But after the team’s humbling loss to Mississippi State, and given the team’s desire to get freshman Myles Brennan more involved the next couple of weeks, it certainly won’t hurt to have him playing.

So far this year, Guice has totaled 307 yards and four touchdowns on 59 touches in the first three games.
