Davante Adams: ‘At home feeling great’

Davante Adams

Following a scary hit on Thursday night and a subsequent hospital visit, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams assured his fans Friday that he’s “feeling great.”

The receiver received a clean MRI scan but did suffer a concussion after being brutally hit by Chicago Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan.

For his part, Trevathan did apologize for the hit after the game.

“I was just trying to make a play. It wasn’t intentional. I was just trying to hustle to the ball and do my job,” Trevathan said, per Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune. “Unfortunately, he wound up hurt. I’m sorry about that. And I’m going to reach out to him and try to send him a message. We play a physical game. But you never wish that on anybody.”

Many (including this scribe) felt Trevathan should have been automatically ejected for the hit, which sure seemed dirty whether Trevathan intended it that way or not.

There was some talk that the NFL did implement a new rule in March that would clear the way for ejections and suspensions for these types of hits. However, Friday morning the league said that such a rule was not implemented, which makes us wonder if Trevathan will get off with just a fine for his career-threatening (not to mention potentially life-threatening) hit.

Thankfully Adams is relatively okay. Watching the replay of that hit this morning, it occurred to me Adams must have had a few guardian angels keeping him safe.
