Chiefs star WR Tyreek Hill flying solo without an agent

NFL Week 2 Tyreek Hill Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill has proven to be among the most-electric players in the entire NFL. The second-year star from West Alabama absolutely dazzled onlookers in his sophomore debut against the New England Patriots in Week 1.

Hill put up seven receptions for 133 yards and this touchdown on eight targets in what was a surprising season-opening win against the defending champs.

This came after a rookie campaign in which Hill gained 1,836 all-purpose yards and 12 total touchdowns.

Surely, the young receiver will want to get paid at some point in the future. If that is to happen, Hill might actually want to hire an agent.

According to this report from Pro Football Talk, that’s not the case right now.

“Based on NFLPA records, the accuracy of which PFT has confirmed via a union source, Hill has no agent at the present,” PFT reported Wednesday.  “It’s unclear why the change was made and when it happened.”

When he was selected in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Hill was represented by Bus Cook, Donald Weatherell and Madison Howard. As PFT notes, there’s no suggestion one way or another why he’s not currently represented.

Though, it also must be noted that Hill cannot sign a new contract with the Chiefs until the completion of his third NFL season. That will come following the 2018 campaign. Maybe, he’s simply in the process of hiring one.

We have seen other NFL players, most notably Russell Okung, drop the ball in contract negotiations when not represented by a professional in the agent field. Let’s hope this is just a short-term thing for Hill.
