Buccaneers Pro Bowl LB Lavonte David has high-ankle sprain

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be without Pro Bowl linebacker Lavonte David for at least the next month after he reportedly suffered a high-ankle sprain in the team’s blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

This could be a striking blow for Tampa Bay over the short term. With games coming up against Eli Manning and Tom Brady over the next two weeks, Tampa Bay could have used David’s coverage skills between the hashes.

A former second-round pick from Nebraska back in 2012, David recorded 87 tackles, four forced fumbles and an interception last season. He was also off to a strong start to the 2017 campaign having put up nine tackles in a Week 1 win over Chicago.
