Cincinnati Bengals rookie wide receiver John Ross has yet to prove himself to be completely healthy after the team selected him No. 9 overall back in April’s draft.

Ross initially had to recover from off-season shoulder surgery. He also underwent multiple knee surgeries during his time in college with Washington. It led to some teams taking him completely off their draft boards (more on that here).

Now, after suffering a sprained knee during the preseason, Ross is likely going to miss the Bengals’ first two regular season games.

That’s most definitely not a good sign for a team that is expecting big things from the speedy rookie receiver.

Adding more insult to injury (not literally), fellow rookie Joe Mixon opens up the regular season as the Bengals’ third-string running back behind Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard.

Both rookies are uber-talented. They also come with major question marks. If the Bengals don’t get much from either player, it will be tough sledding for the team in the AFC North in 2017.
