Bears confirm Kevin White’s injury, will place him on IR

The bad injury luck for Chicago Bears wide receiver Kevin White continued on Sunday. White exited the team’s Week 1 loss to the Atlanta Falcons with what was initially being described as a collarbone injury.

While the former first-round pick did avoid that specific injury, Bears head coach John Fox confirmed on Monday that White will be placed on injured reserve with a fractured scapula.

At some point, we just have to feel bad for White. The No. 7 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, White played in all of four games over the course of his first two NFL seasons. He missed his entire rookie campaign with a foot injury and missed all but four games last season with fibula and ankle injuries.

For the Bears, it’s also some bad luck. The team lost returning No. 1 receiver Cameron Meredith during the preseason with a torn ACL. After seeing Alshon Jeffery depart in free agency and releasing veteran Victor Cruz this summer, the Bears’ depth chart at receiver is incredibly thin.
