MLB released its 2018 schedule on Tuesday. While it features many highlights, one game between the Chicago White Sox and Oakland Athletics stands out.

The two will play in Oakland on April 17, in a game that will not cost fans anything to attend.

“The April 17 home game against the White Sox — on the 50th anniversary of the A’s first game at the Coliseum — will be free admission to all fans,” Joe Stiglich of NBC Sports California noted. “The A’s are promoting that as one of the first of its kind in major league history.”

As far as value goes, this one will be hard to beat. It’s certainly a good way to get fans into the ballpark.

While obviously no money will be gained in ticket revenue, that can be negated with concessions and souvenirs, especially given that this will likely attract families that otherwise wouldn’t have gone to the game on a Tuesday night.
