Report: Carmelo Anthony not interested in Cavaliers

It’s a rumor that has seemingly lasted well over a calendar year. Carmelo Anthony heading to the Cleveland Cavaliers to team up with best friend LeBron James. For too long, this scenario has just made too much sense, with James himself fanning the flames.

But now that Anthony is firmly on the trade block, the Cavaliers seem in disarray. Kyrie Irving has demanded a trade from Cleveland. The team’s front office drama is still yet to be completely eradicated. Meanwhile, James himself is set to become a free agent following the 2017-18 season.

With a no-trade clause to call his own, it now looks like Anthony is not interested in joining what could potentially be a sinking ship in Cleveland.

“A stalemate has ensued as sources indicate Anthony only wishes to waive his no-trade clause to go to the Rockets. Not even Cleveland, which is in turmoil, is good enough for Anthony as the Cavaliers are dealing with Kyrie Irving’s trade demand,” Marc Berman of the NY Post reports.

Ouch.

It must be noted that the Knicks are one of a handful of teams Irving has reportedly told the Cavaliers he would like to be traded to. Though, said deal seems to be dead in the water with Anthony not interested in joining Cleveland and New York not willing to part with Kristaps Porzingis.

The writing really does seem to be on the wall here. Anthony has clearly made his intentions known. He will only waive his no-trade clause to join Chris Paul and James Harden with the Houston Rockets. Whether New York facilitates such a deal remains to be seen.

What we do know is that Cleveland doesn’t appear to be an attractive destination for Anthony.
