Paul Richardson lays out for big play, leaves game with injury

Paul Richardson

Paul Richardson is a big-play machine. He’s not one of the guys who shows up all the time, but when he does you usually have to take notice.

Early in Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Seattle Seahawks receiver did it again. On a deep pass from Russell Wilson down the left sideline, Richardson laid out for what was almost a one-handed effort, ultimately bringing it in with both his hands as he hit the turf hard.

Richardson beat his man off the line of scrimmage with a sweet, quick juke and was off to the races. The pass from Wilson almost seemed to surprise Richardson, who probably could have taken it to the house instead of diving for the ball if he’d been looking back soon enough.

And unfortunately, that dive might have cost Richardson. He ended up leaving the game with his right arm kind of hanging like he suffered a shoulder or clavicle injury.

This play ended up setting the Seahawks up with a field goal for their first score of the preseason.
