NFL won’t suspend Ezekiel Elliott over bar fight

Ezekiel Elliott of the Dallas Cowboys

The NFL has suspended Ezekiel Elliott for the first six weeks of the season, stemming from multiple alleged domestic violence incidents. Elliott has voiced his displeasure with the ruling and is reportedly willing to fight it through the courts.

Fortunately for Elliott, the NFL has ruled in his favor in relation to a more recent incident.

“The good news (if there is any) for Elliott is that the league has closed the investigation arising from reports that Elliott had allegedly broken the nose of a DJ at a Dallas nightclub on the evening of July 16,” Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk wrote.

Florio added a quote from league spokesman Brian McCarthy, saying “as with any matter, we would review new evidence if presented.” The police suspended their investigation in the incident shortly after it occurred.

That is good news for Elliott, at least for now. The last thing he needed was another looming incident on top of the one he’s already in trouble for. Still, he may not be entirely out of the woods yet.

As Florio noted, no video evidence of the nightclub incident has emerged. But that fight was less than a month ago and in this day in age, something else could occur. Should that happen, this incident could be one that we’re revisiting at some point.
