Kevin Durant has no interest in ever playing for the Knicks

Kevin Durant

We fully expect Kevin Durant to remain in the Bay Area for some time. The reigning NBA Finals MVP signed a two-year contract with the Golden State Warriors back in July. It calls for an opt out after the 2017-18 season, at which point Durant is expected to sign a long-term deal with the defending champs.

But where might Durant end his career should he decide to move on from the Warriors at some point? Well, the answer to that question obviously isn’t the downtrodden New York Knicks.

In talking with fans in New York City while introducing another basketball court under the guise of the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation, the former MVP made this clear.

When asked when he was coming to the Knicks, Durant simply replied “never.”

This very same week saw Durant take part in a pick-up basketball game with LeBron James and current Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony (watch here).

And while Durant had nothing but great things to say about the history of basketball in New York, he made it clear playing pro ball in the city is not in the cards.

In no way should this come as a surprise. Even after moving on from former president Phil Jackson, the Knicks themselves are seen as an absolute mess. Meanwhile, Durant is coming off a championship with the Warriors and has his eyes on many more here over the next several seasons.
