John Fox likens Mitch Trubisky’s debut to Tim Tebow

John Fox

This likely isn’t what fans of the Chicago Bears want to hear. Just a short while after rookie No. 2 overall pick Mitch Trubisky impressed in his NFL preseason debut, head coach John Fox drew a somewhat surprising comparison.

Yes, Fox just pretty much compared Trubisky to former NFL quarterback (turned MILB player) Tim Tebow. For those of you who somehow forgot, Fox was Tebow’s head coach during the quarterback’s final season with the Denver Broncos back in 2011.

Tebow completed less than 47 percent of his passes that season. Ultimately, the former Heisman winner would not start another NFL game in his career after that year.

For his part, Trubisky showed well in his preseason debut with Chicago. Taking over for a disastrous Mike Glennon, the North Carolina product completed 18-of-25 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown.

Let’s hope for fans in the Windy City that Fox’s comparison to Tebow ends here. Anything else of this ilk moving forward wouldn’t be a sign of good things for the rookie quarterback.
