DeMarcus Cousins’ return to Sacramento to be nationally televised

DeMarcus Cousins trade

The NBA knows exactly what it is doing. How else could we explain the Association scheduling the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day last year? The NBA embraces its drama and wants everyone posssible to watch it unfold.

Set to release its schedule for marquee games on Thursday and its full schedule shortly thereafter, some games have already been leaked.

It’s in this that we know former Sacramento Kings All-Star DeMarcus Cousins will make his long-awaited return to California’s capital city on national television.

It will come early in the season, when Cousins and his New Orleans Pelicans visit Sacramento on TNT.

In reality, it looks like Cousins got his wish here. The highly enigmatic center, who left the Kings on bitter terms this past February, previously hoped that his return to Sacramento would come early in the season (more on that here).

It’s going to be interesting to see if the highly emotional Cousins can keep himself in check in front of a national audience. Cousins was suspended as a member of the Pelicans last season after crossing the technical foul threshold for the year. It’s something that has dogged him throughout an otherwise highly successful career.

You can bet we will be tuning in to see how Cousins handles himself and how he is received in a city that he called home for six-plus drama-filled seasons.
