Cowboys fear DE Tyrone Crawford suffered broken leg in practice

The Cowboys fear starting defensive end Tyrone Crawford has suffered a broken leg

The Dallas Cowboys are already incredibly thin along the defensive line. Benson Mayowa, who put up six sacks last season, is the team’s top returning pass rusher. Fellow defensive end David Irving will be suspended to start the season.

Now comes this potentially catastrophic news from Cowboys training camp indicating that the team fears starting defensive end Tyrone Crawford suffered a broken leg during Tuesday’s practice.

The former third-round pick from Boise State was expected to play a huge role for a Cowboys defense that has no real depth from a pass-rush standpoint. Depending on the severity of this ugly-looking injury, that can now be thrown completely out the window. In four NFL seasons, Crawford has recorded 12.5 sacks. A loss of this magnitude would be significant for the defending NFC East champions.

We’ll surely have updates as they become available.
