Colts release starting DE Kendall Langford

The Colts have released starting defensive end Kendall Langford

Entering training camp as a starter doesn’t necessarily mean job security in today’s NFL. Just ask former Indianapolis Colts defensive end Kendall Langford, who was released by the team on Wednesday.

The release itself comes with an injury designation. Langford, 31, missed the final nine games of last season with a knee injury and was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list at the start of training camp last month.

The eight-year veteran signed a four-year, $17.2 million deal with Indianapolis back in 2015. In two seasons with the team, he has recorded seven sacks (all coming in 2015) in 23 starts.

With Langford no longer an option, look for third-year player Henry Anderson and rookie Tarell Basham to compete for starting defensive end duties during the preseason.
