Bud Adams’ daughter selling minority share of the Titans

Titans

The Tennessee Titans’ ownership situation is on the verge of getting a bit more convoluted. Susie Adams, the daughter of the late-great Bud Adams, is selling her one-third stake in the team, Paul Kuharsky of 104.5 The Zone in Nashville is reporting.

“A source confirms Bloomberg’s report that one-third of The Tennessee Titans is for sale and would be part of a purchase of shares of KSA Industries, the team’s parent company,” Kuharsky notes. “Susie Adams Smith wants out. She owns a third of the team as does her sister, Amy Adams Strunk, who is the controlling owner. Kenneth Adams, the grandson of deceased founding owner Bud Adams, owns 11 percent of the team, as does his brother, Barclay Adams, and their mother, Susan Lewis.”

Bud Adams, the founding owner of the Titans franchise, passed away at the age of 90 back in 2013. Since then, a combination of his children and grand children have owned the franchise.

“Recently Susie (Smith) began the process of selling her portion of KSA Industries, which includes a fractional indirect interest in the Tennessee Titans. We respect her right to make this decision and will cooperate fully with the process, which will not impact team operations in any way,” Amy Adams Strunk said in a statement. “Regardless of the outcome of this process, I will continue to serve as the controlling owner of the Titans.”

This ends what has been a contentious behind-the-scenes relationship between the siblings. Though, nothing really changes from a day-to-day standpoint. That’s most definitely a good thing for the up-and-coming franchise.

The Titans themselves are valued at $2 billion. Needless to say, one-third of the franchise will fetch a nice price.

One potential suitor is former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning, who has long looked into potentially buying an NFL franchise.

Manning himself has obvious ties to the Nashville area, having gone to school in Tennessee.
