Warriors officially bring back championship team

The Golden State Warriors and Kevin Durant surprised absolutely no one by winning the 2017 NBA Title.

With the drama surrounding their biggest rivals, the Golden State Warriors have played it somewhat low key this summer. They took care of business (and more), adding Nick Young as well as Omri Casspi to an already loaded roster. These are the two deals that were official prior to Tuesday.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the band is now almost completely back together after earning a second NBA title in three years back in June.

The Warriors officially announced that they have re-signed former MVPs Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant as well as a plethora of role players from last season’s championship team. That list includes Shaun Livingston, Andre Iguodala, Zaza Pachulia and David West.

All of these deals were reported as done earlier in the month, but the Warriors did not make them official until Tuesday. Curry received the largest contract in Association history with a total value of $201 million. Meanwhile, Durant took a lot less money in order for Golden State to re-sign Iguodala.

This all comes with the Cleveland Cavaliers finding themselves between a rock and a hard place after Kyrie Irving’s reported trade demands were made public late last week (more on that here).

So while the Cavaliers attempt to figure out a way back to the Finals for a fourth consecutive year, Golden State is in prime position to accomplish that feat itself.
