Warriors free agent C JaVale McGee to meet with the Clippers

JaVale McGee trolls Shaq while taking part in some self-deprecating humor himself.

Despite being somewhat of a laughingstock for his awkward on-court ability, JaVale McGee played a huge role in the Golden State Warriors’ run to the title this past season.

He signed a non-guaranteed contract with Golden State last summer. There was some question as to whether McGee would even make the team’s final roster. He responded by putting up the best overall performance of his career, averaging 6.1 points and shooting at a 65 percent clip from the field.

While McGee would like to return to the Warriors, there’s some other interest in his services. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, McGee is set to visit with the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.

Considering the 29-year-old center brought his own version of lob city to Oakland last year, he would be a tremendous fit behind DeAndre Jordan with the Clippers.

There’s a chance this is a negotiating ploy from McGee and his representatives. Though, at this point, Golden State wouldn’t be able to offer him any more than the veteran minimum.

If McGee does return to the defending champs, it will be all about pursuing another ring for a squad that helped him resurrect his career. Going to the Clippers would likely be nothing more than a money grab for the vet.
