Report: Rangers telling teams they will trade Yu Darvish

Yu Darvish

With just a few days to go before Monday’s non-waiver trade deadline, some major news broke around the Major League Baseball world.

Ken Rosenthal over at Fox Sports is reporting that the Texas Rangers have informed other teams that they will indeed trade ace starting pitcher Yu Darvish.

Darvish, 30, has reportedly been on the trade block for some time now. Both the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers have expressed interest in the four-time All-Star, but this is the first time we’ve heard indirectly through the Rangers that they will indeed trade the starter.

Thus far this season, Darvish is pitching to a 6-5 record with a 4.01 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 3.99 FIP in an AL-best 22 starts. Needless to say, he joins Sonny Gray as the top arm available on the trade market.

It’s extremely hypothetical, but we would not be surprised to see teams such as the New York Yankees, Houston Astros and Milwaukee Brewers also get in on conversations surrounding Darvish between now and Monday’s deadline.
